SAFARI Montage version 1.2.2 is the first public release of the 1.2 version. Versions 1.2 and 1.2.1 were alpha and beta versions, released to a select group of test sites and pilot partners.
The primary focus of this release is to support the new CreationStation™ add-on module. CreationStation contains the features outlined below. You will only see these features if you have the CreationStation module installed.
Upload your original video, audio, and image files to SAFARI Montage. The following formats are supported.
Assign your own metadata to your uploaded content, such as title, author, description (abstract), grade range, and copyright.
Divide your videos into labeled chapters and key concepts, allowing easy access to segments that you designate.
Specify who may view your uploaded content—teachers, students, other uploaders, or everyone.
Save your uploaded video, audio, and still images into playlists for quick playback in the future. Save your video chapters, key concepts, and bookmarks to playlists. Combine your content with SAFARI Montage licensed content. Playlists can be shared to other users within the system.
Make your content expire on a certain date, rendering it invisible from that date forward to all users except you and the system administrator.
Upload your own supplemental documents to associate with your content, or hyperlink to a document on the Internet or your intranet/extranet. Supplemental documents can include a teacher’s guide, a data sheet, and an additional document of your choosing. Attachments can be of nearly any format, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, and image formats such as GIF, JPEG, and BMP.
Your content becomes fully indexed by the powerful SAFARI Montage search engine so users can easily find your content. A new advanced search feature allows filtering by media type (image, video, audio).
Upload multiple files in a single operation. This is handled through a comma-separated values (CSV) file.
This allows you to brand your content with your own logo. Your logo shows up in search results and on the playback page for any uploaded content. This helps to distinguish your content from SAFARI Montage licensed content.
Create quizzes to associate with your uploaded content.
New LDAP technologies have been added. SAFARI Montage now supports the following LDAP formats:
Your personal content may now be backed up to a destination on your network. Personal content includes playlists, recent searches, dashboards, and user accounts. Systems with CreationStation installed also have the option of backing up the uploaded video, audio, and image files. Backups can be placed on a weekly schedule or performed manually at any time.
Sub-navigation menu has been organized into categories. The categories collapse when not in use to save space.
This release supports the following content packages. All packages listed are available in QuickTime and Windows Media formats.
