Content Update Support


The instructions below describe how to configure your SAFARI Montage® server to receive online content updates.


Eligibility & Requirements

  • Online content updates require SAFARI Montage 4.2 or greater.
  • Online content updates require active coverage under a Software Warranty or Software Upgrade Plan (SUP).
  • Updates available to each installation will vary depending on the SAFARI Montage software version and content drives.
  • Please note that not all content updates are available online.

Firewall Settings

Confirm that your firewall(s) is properly configured to allow SAFARI Montage servers on your network outbound access to download updates via the following ports:


  • HTTP (port 80) - this port will be used for downloads from our Content Delivery Network (CDN), cloudfront.net
  • HTTP (port 80) - this port will be used for downloads from contentupdate.safarimontage.com
  • FTP (port 22) - this port will be used for downloads from our ftp.libraryvideo.com

Content Update Settings

Your SAFARI Montage server will check nightly for any content updates that your server may require and updates will be downloaded according to the download schedule configured by your site administrator.


To setup automatic content updates, perform the following:


  1. Click on ADMIN from the SAFARI Montage header.
  2. Click on Content Update Settings from the left-hand navigation, under Settings.
  3. Enable Allow Content Updates from SAFARI Montage by checking the checkbox.
  4. Set the Content Download Schedule.
    1. Select a Transfer Speed from the dropdown list. This represents the bandwidth to be used during the content download.
    2. Select a time frame for each day of the week. This time frame represents the times in which content updates will NOT be downloaded.
    3. Enable/Disable Ignore Download Schedule. If enabled, this will instruct SAFARI Montage to ignore the above download schedule and to download content as it becomes available.
  5. Click on the Update button to set the download schedule.

Note: Content updates may take several days to receive depending on the download schedule and transfer speed.


Content Updates Queue

Administrators can monitor the progress of any downloading content by viewing at the Content Updates Queue.


To view the Content Updates Queue, perform the following:


  1. Click on ADMIN from the SAFARI Montage header.
  2. Click on Content Updates Queue from the left-hand navigation, under Tools.

    Content packages are listed along with the percentage downloaded.
